A study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition examined the positive effect of cinnamon on type 2 diabetes. Results revealed that participants who ate rice pudding prepared with six grams (or 1.2 teaspoons) of cinnamon with their meal had significantly lower blood glucose levels 2 hours after eating. The cinnamon-laced pudding was also slower to digest than regular pudding. Slower gastric emptying keeps blood sugar from spiking.

To speak out for a good cause, you don’t need a lot of experience or money. Anyone can make a difference any time! Georgia Smith was inspired one winter day while she was driving home. She came to an intersection and noticed a Hatfield Quality Meat tractor trailer decorated with holiday greetings and a picture of a holiday ham. Realizing that ham is no holiday treat for pigs, Georgia decided to coordinate a vigil for the pigs on that spot. If the meat company could advertise there, Georgia could too! She coordinated with other animal-friendly people in the area and put on an unforgettable event for the animals.
Her journey of compassion began about four years ago when Georgia’s 10 year-old daughter, Veronica, decided that she didn’t want animals to needlessly die for her meals. Supporting her daughter’s decision, Georgia jumped on board and they both dropped animal products from their diets. The mother-daughter team have been spreading the message of compassion ever since!
