Broccoli
and soy can prevent cancer from spreading, according
to a new study. Researchers at the University of
California, Los Angeles, have discovered substances
in soy and cruciferous vegetables that appear to
halt the spread of breast and ovarian cancer. By
reducing the production of two cancer-spreading proteins
during digestion, the substances were found to significantly
decrease cell migration and invasion.
The researchers explain that these important compounds might slow or prevent the metastasis (spreading) of breast and ovarian cancer, which would greatly increase the effectiveness of current treatments.

Bob
Goldberg and Paul Lewin have turned their compassionate
principles into a rewarding career. Their story begins
in 1965 when they met in college. They soon found
themselves drafted into the Army for two years
during the Vietnam War. Bob said his vegetarianism
started when he became a conscientious objector. "I
came face to face with the whole idea of having to
kill something," he
said. "I went from not wanting to kill people to
not wanting to kill at all."
After their discharge, Bob and Paul moved to Los Angeles and pursued their dreams of promoting compassion. They bought a health food store, named it Follow Your Heart, and began producing the best animal-friendly fare in town. The food was such a hit that they went national and began distributing their vegan products to natural food stores around the country. Their line of food includes Vegenaise, Vegan Gourmet soy cheese, Chicken-Free Chicken, and much more. For the past 35 years they have been keeping busy running the business and hosting annual holiday feasts and events.
