Kiwi
can protect you from winter colds and flu. Small,
green, and fuzzy, kiwi is a nutritionally dense fruit
that strengthens the immune system and protects
the body. Research recently published in
the Cambridge journal Proceedings of the Nutrition
Society showed
that in addition to boosting the body’s natural
defenses, kiwi also improves digestive health and
muscle performance. Specifically, kiwi protects against
lower digestive-tract cancers and aids muscle repair
by reducing cell damage and inflammation.
Kiwi provides a full day’s supply of vitamin C, antioxidant-rich vitamin E, potassium (which helps blood pressure), and lutein (which promotes good vision). Kiwi is also a great source of fiber, copper, magnesium, and manganese. These findings support growing evidence showing kiwi increases the body’s natural response to fighting diseases like diabetes, arthritis, obesity, heart disease, and cancer.
